Quick, Nutritious Breakfast for Homeschool

Usually, the finishing touches I put on homeschool planning is meal prep and organizing my recipes, because the cafeteria lady is also me. I'm always looking for quick, nutritious breakfast meals that don't require a lot, so that we can get started with academics. Because our, "First Breakfast," is quick and small, the, "Second Breakfast," is where we make up. 😆

Seriously though, the ability to provide proper nourishment to my children has been my favorite part of homeschooling. I love serving them healthy snacks while they are calling on their brains to work hard.

Food is tied so heavily into what we do each day, and for that reason I'll have lots of blog posts about it. Today, I'm covering, "First & Second Breakfast."

I created an online menu to use and share for meal planning. You can see it here & I hope it blesses you as much as it does me.

These are the forms I created to do my weekly meal planning and shopping. I have been using these for what seems like forever. I print a bunch and hole punch them into the binder that holds all my printed recipes. When I sit down to do my meal planning, I pull out each recipe I am going to use for the week. Then one by one, I add the ingredients I am going to need from the store for that meal. I hope they bless you as much as they have me.

Lemon Balm Cone Flower Immunity Booster

"This herb should be kept in every gentlewoman's house…it causeth the mind and heart to become merry and driveth away troublesome cares."   17th-century herbalist Culpeper ~ Our Lemon Balm Cone Flower Herbal Immunity Booster A good herbalist will find many uses for one plant. Not that I like to consider myself a herbalist .. I despise labels! At any rate, lemon balm and cone flower both have immunity boosting properties. I have had this immunity boosting medicine in the works for some time now. It is lemon balm and cone flower and child safe. I plan on starting the twins on this in the fall in preparation of the colder months.   Our Lemon Balm is homegrown on our homestead. These are two year plants. Lemon Balm is easy to grow and does well in most soil. Our Lemon Balm was one of the first herbs planted in our garden. Cone flower is still in the works here. The ones we used to make our immunity booster were sent to us from some dear fri...

St. Patricks Day: A Waldorf Homeschool Celebration

Legend has it, finding a four leaf clover is lucky and St. Patrick attributed the three leafed clover to the Holy Trinity. Before creating circle times or putting holiday activities together, I first meditate on the subject. During the meditation phase, I ask myself, "What are the main teaching points? Can any of them be compacted for economy in teaching? What is the spirit of the activity or what kind of environment should be created? The spirit of St. Patrick's Day seems to be colorful, playful and a bit mischievous. Here's what I came up with..... A Waldorf Homeschool St. Patrick's Day Celebration A few circle time verses: Beams of Love Finger Play: Round the golden dome above (Bring arms above head in a circle.)  Sends to me its beams of love (Bring arms slowly down and cross over heart.)  As I go about my day (Move arms back and forth like “walking.”)  Beams of love unfold in play (Start with hands crossed over heart and slowly bring arms ...

Homeschool Planning 8th Grade with a Christian Worldview

We follow along with Ambleside Online' reading schedule for History, Geography, Economics, Literature, and Logic. We are currently working through the,   Year 7,8,9 in Two Years with Ambleside Online. Our 2025/2026 school year will complete the first year of two. We plan to follow their weekly reading schedules. The historical time periods our books follow this year are the Middles Ages, Renaissance. Term 1: 800-1215; Term 2: 1216-1485; Term 3: 1450-1640 I just love how Ambleside uses a time period and threads that period through all the book suggestions. It is a rich experience indeed! ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS For English, I'm adding grammar and writing courses to the Ambleside literature suggestions. The writing course we are using is:  Lost Tools of Writing Level 1  by the Circe Institute. I plan on putting updates about this course and sharing some the twin's writings in the blog post -------- For Grammar we are using  Daily Gramma...
