Math & Science Homeschool from a Christian Worldview

Finding a science curriculum that is taught from a creation standpoint was one of the first challenges I was met with, as a new homeschool mom. I am a first generation homeschool mom. The twins I homeschool are my youngest children of seven, and the only ones we homeschooled. In the beginning, I found many discrepancies with the content of the educational science curriculum, according to my own Biblical Worldview. Answers in Genesis helped me do my own research about science, as I studied books written by Creation Scientists. (I did not even know there was such a thing as a Creation Scientists 😏) Before I started teaching science, I didn't think this was such a big. Turns out it actually is. So, I'm pleased to not only have found a curriculum that aligns with our Christian Worldview, but also prepares the students for ACT, SAT, and CLEP tests, for math and science. The curriculum we will use from Middle School through High School is DIVE into Math & Science

We began using this last  year for 7th Grade math. I am glad that we started using the curriculum before Pre-Algebra, so that we would not have to figure a new format on top of starting Algebra. 

Dr. Sharmmon teaches the course via pre-recorded video instruction. He is a great teacher and I love how he incorporates Christian principles even into a math course. 

Last year, we basically did the course together by watching the videos together and then working individually on Practice Sets. It helps me to follow along with the course,  because let's be honest, it's been a few years since I've done 7th Grade math. 

Starting with Pre-Algebra, the course is graded individually online. ( I'm pretty happy about online grading. 🎉🥳) So, the twins will be watching from their own computer, with headphones, and doing their Practice Sets individually. I will check the notes they take to make sure they are following along, and not using deduction on the multiple choice.

New this Year: My husband is going to be following along with the course. (It's also been awhile since he took Pre-Algebra) That way he can help if they get stuck. We are incorporating a, "Dad Study Hour," where he will be going over each days lessons with them, in the evening. 

Our college track, if all goes well, should have them taking the, "College Algebra CLEP Test," in their Junior Year of High School. DIVE Math & Science will prepare them for that too. 

There has been a huge learning curve for me with homeschooling, and I am so thankful to have found a science and math curriculum that is not only a good fit for us, but will follow us through college.

Homeschool Planning 8th Grade with a Christian Worldview

We follow along with Ambleside Online' reading schedule for History, Geography, Economics, Literature, and Logic. We are currently working through the,   Year 7,8,9 in Two Years with Ambleside Online. Our 2025/2026 school year will complete the first year of two. We plan to follow their weekly reading schedules. The historical time periods our books follow this year are the Middles Ages, Renaissance. Term 1: 800-1215; Term 2: 1216-1485; Term 3: 1450-1640 I just love how Ambleside uses a time period and threads that period through all the book suggestions. It is a rich experience indeed! ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS For English, I'm adding grammar and writing courses to the Ambleside literature suggestions. The writing course we are using is:  Lost Tools of Writing Level 1  by the Circe Institute. Quick, Nutritious Breakfast for Homeschool

  Usually, the finishing touches I put on homeschool planning is meal prep and organizing my recipes, because the cafeteria lady is also me. I'm always looking for quick, nutritious breakfast meals that don't require a lot, so that we can get started with academics. Because our, "First Breakfast," is quick and small, the, "Second Breakfast," is where we make up. 😆 Seriously though, the ability to provide proper nourishment to my children has been my favorite part of homeschooling. I love serving them healthy snacks while they are calling on their brains to work hard.  Food is tied so heavily into what we do each day, and for that reason I'll have lots of blog posts about it.
